Life at 5 | 'Tis the season

What have you been up to little girl?
Jog-A-Thon - Our first venture into the fundraising world! Parker worked hard for her money, running 21 laps! Such a little trooper, earning her red face and so many fun prizes...including silly string and pie in a teacher's face! Because of our amazing friend and family support our little jogger came in third place as the highest fundraiser!
(Post run celebrations!)
(she was a little tentative...when it comes to putting whipped cream
in a teacher's face, can you blame her?)
Annual Pumpkin Patch Trip - Aunt Kimmy once again joined us for our annual girl's "pick the perfect pumpkin, and have lots of fun doing it" trip. We ventured to a new patch this year (sorry Little People Big World). But really, fried apple donuts with whipped cream, obstacle courses, face painting, tractor rides, hay slides and PRINCESSES won out!

Halloween - Requiring two costume changes. Princess in Black by day, Mermaid by night. We once again had so much fun trick-or-treating with our besties, Roque and his family!

Cheer Camp - "Fight Green, Fight Black, Fight, Fight, Fight!" What a fun experience, learning from the West Salem high school cheerleaders and performing at a chilly football game. Parker was a ROCKSTAR doing her best with the pom-poms!

School Movie Night - A chaotic crazy and FUN night with school friends watching "Inside Out". Lots of candy, pop corn, and kids enjoying the cinema.

Sweet and Greet with Cinderella - Back to West Salem highschool to meet Cinderella and Prince Charming over some juice and cupcakes. So fun to watch two "princesses" say hello.
Back to Ballerina-ing - We're back baby! Prepping for our third year in ballet...which means recital #3. Can't wait for tutus and glitter in June!
Thanksgiving - It's another tradition with Aunt Kimmy, to put up the tree, with a gifted ornament each year. This is a super special time to watch these two bond. (Kim...this can never stop!)

Christmas in the Garden - A trip to Oregon Garden with a few thousand of our friends to see the Christmas lights in the garden, ride a pony, see the big guy in red, drink hot chocolate, and snowless tubing. It was the best time with our besties. I hope Roque and Parker stay friends forever.
Our First (no-school) Days - SNOW IN OREGON!?!? A few days out of school to play in the cold. Sledding is about the only good thing West Salem hills are good for!

Guess Who's Back...Mimie's Back - The Elf on the Shelf was back to report to Santa. She got into some shenanigans of her own!
(Drawing #1, Parker's of Parker, Santa, and Mimie.
Drawing #2, Mimie and Parker.
Talent from both child and elf.)
Christmas in Nebraska - The best time of the year. Going to see Grammie and Papa in Nebraska, and getting to do some of our favorite things. Seeing and loving our Colorado family, eating Runza, getting pedi's with Grammie, playing in the snow with Papa and Daddy, four-wheeling, snuggling with the kitties, getting spoiled by Nebraska family, visiting Santa in single digit temperatures, meeting new friends, and well....Christmas! Whew, the 10 days flew by...too quick. Grammie and Papa, you are two of the most amazing people ever, giving us beautiful memories to last a life time. (But this single digit stuff is nuts. Get to Oregon already!)
(Important to hydrate AND take the PDX carpet pic prior to departure!)

(When do we get on the plane already!?!?)
(Great Grandpa Bauer and some of the great granddaughters in Denver. Such a special time!)

(I get that face too when I FINALLY get to eat Runza!!)
(Parker's first pink BB gun from Papa.
Yes...the "you'll shoot your eye out" quote was thrown out many times!)
(Let's talk about cousin Danny. He gets Parker CRAZY, and his family buys her the BEST gifts. Anything that makes noise or a mess - this year, "Pie In The Face" game, whipped cream included, and a voice changing megaphone. Danny, Chandra, and Tyler...we love you, and all of your crazy shenanigans!)
(Elf on the Shelf brought "fake nails". WHAT?!)
(Our new best friend Annastyn. What a sweet pair!)
(Grammie's beautiful Troll themed tree and a very overfilled stocking!)
(Christmas spoils! Including an adopted sloth that includes commemorative stuffed sloth.)
(Braving the Christmas Day blizzard with Papa.)
(Great Aunt Franny and more Annastyn!)
(Baby Charlie, who will tell you she is NOT a baby, and more cousin Danny!)
(Last day jammie snuggles with Orangie the cat.)
(Uno, Uno, and more Uno. Beside the 376 games played in Nebraska, Daddy and Papa had to continue to play in the hotel in Denver. Out of the zillion things the child got for Christmas...the $2.99 card game was the most popular.)
(Saying goodbye at the air port. There was more than one person crying. Sad. Day.)

New Years - While we didn't quite get to ring in the actual new year together, we got to spend New Year's Eve with Roque. Nope, no kissing at midnight. We were all in bed by 11:30.
A few of our favorite things (Parker verbatim):
Hobbies: Playing, watch cartoons, playing with Roque, playing with Papa, playing with Grammie, ride four-wheelers, and playing Uno!
Food: Chocolate pudding, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate, and chocolate banana smoothies!
School: Having recess and snow days!!

Parker-ism's:
"I pasted myself Mommy!" - on pacing herself for 21 laps in the jog-a-thon

"Mommy, I'm so scared. I think Bullitt is barking at a weasel. What's a weasel?"

Parker - "Are you a veterinarian?"
Mommy - "No."
P - "But tomorrow we are supposed to honor our veterinarians."
M - "Do you mean veterans?"
P - "Ok...are you veterans?"
M - "No, but you have lots of family who are."
P - "Ok...tomorrow we need to honor them."
- on Veteran's Day

Daddy - "I don't have an urge to stay for the whole game.
P - "I have the urge. What's an urge?"
- staying for the whole football game after her performance

P - "If I were you I would guess C."
M - "OK, C."
P - "Nope, no C."
- playing Hangman, and not getting her word "YOU"

M - "Everyone and their dog will be at the store tonight."
P - "Yay, it's Dog Day at the store!!"
- on everyone going to the store to stock up before the snow storm
