What have you been up to little girl?

Principal for the day - As a prize f0r being the top fundraiser from her jog-a-thon, Parker got to be principal for the day - including morning announcements, recess duty, her own badge and megaphone, classroom inventories, and lunch with the real principal (and a few friends). 

Valentine's Day - Among the yearly classroom valentines, there came a super special-large-box-of-kisses from a not-so-secret admirer - her first real life valentine from a boy! Per ushe...she, once again, rocked the heart hair on heart day. 

We went to Disneyland - It was a trip of a lifetime! Our little princess was on Disney overload! A sixteen hour drive to and from the land of the mouse, with four fun-filled days in between, taking in all of the rides, attractions, and character interactions. Our time together laughing and depositing more memories into the bank with Grammie and Papa -priceless!

 

 

 

 

Fun with friends - So many friends, so many giggles, so much fun!!

Cheering on Ashley and Allyssa - Our last cheer camp with Allyssa. These Titan cheerleaders were the ones who sparked her interest in cheer. Parks couldn't have had two better role models to look up to and become friends with. Ashley and Allyssa, congrats on your graduation - you are on to do great things!!! We love you!

Visits from family - The river brings family from near and far!

January brought Uncle Clay and Aunt Vanessa and their pups to the river - for fun in the chilly sun, cornhole and dinner. Uncle Clay even gifted Parker with the proper attire for the upcoming super bowl (much to daddy's chagrin.) 

In March, Aunt Francine, and cousins Terry and Cindy traveled from Nebraska to see what this Oregon life is all about - pretty fun things, that's what - including big foot hunting, floating the rivers, and LOTS of giggles from cousin Terry!

In June, Aunt Diane and Uncle Tom made the multiple day drive for a visit from Colorado. Parker used her charm to have them stay "just one more day" more than once - you know, to provide more time for slime making on the deck and a very important ice cream test at the Tillamook cheese factory!

Take your kid to work day - My lil worker was ready to earn her keep for the day - attending important meetings, facilitating a serious tic-tac-toe tournaments, shuffling the paperwork and sending a very important email to her friend across the capitol mall. It didn't hurt that she got to spend the day with a very cute boy and new friend, Wyatt, and end a stressful workday with sweet little Ariah!

Easter - So many eggs, so little time! After attending a local Easter egg hunt, Papa set Parker off on a 4-wheeler scavenger hunt, which including deciphering clues and following a map around the property! 

Learned to ride a bike - There was blood, there was sweat, and there were tears, yet Papa was persevering and taught Parker to ride a bike. On my bike...brought all the way from Nebraska...and over 32 years old! Parks makes a banana seat look good!

Field trips - A girl on the go! In March, Parks went on a Y-care trip to the Woodburn Tulip farm - with strict instructions from mommy - TAKE PICTURES!

In May, I got to chaperone Parks' 2nd grade class fieldtrip to riverfront park for a ride on the Sternwheeler, scavenger hunt in the park, and spin on the carousel. I treasure these times with Parks and her friends - even more so that actually she wants me there!

St. Patrick's Day - Although she and papa made a fool-proof trap (or so we thought) we still couldn't catch the lucky little man!

Awesome 3000 - We have a runner! Her second year running in the Awesome 3000, and she came in 8th (out of over 170 of kiddos!) I think it was the socks...

Made the Cheer team - It's official! In June, Parker started her competitive cheer career, as she was placed on her first team IGNITE! (Youth level 1 - see even I'm learning new lingo!) Say hello to our new flyer, and her mother gasping every time she goes in the air!

8th birthday - She's 8 going on 18! June was a month full of celebration for this little girl - and by that I mean, she literally celebrated her birthday for almost an entire month! On the weekend of her birthday, her best friend Emma joined us for some play time at the river - including some American Ninja Warrior courses, splashing in the water and four-wheelin'. That evening brought some fancier apparel for dinner and cake!

A week later, it was time to (birthday) party. It was a rockin' good time with a rock star theme, at a rock climbing place with 17 of her little friends!

School fun - Parker came home beaming on the day she was selected as the lead in the reader's theatre for the book "Apples to Oregon". Parker read the sweet character "Delicious" and even perfected her very southern accent. The backdrop included an artistic chimney rock and stage props were spot on. Our friend Maribel surprised our little star with a her appearance in the audience  and a rose (that she nicely asked a man if she could have out of his garden).

The students were asked to write poems about the Milky Way. Parker and a friend made up the idea that they could tape their poems together to make a visual representation of the galaxy. Parker brought the work home to layout and tape, and offer her documentary of what we were seeing.

Last day of 2nd grade - June 13 brought a very bittersweet, emotional day. Not only did we say goodbye to 2nd grade, but we also had to say goodbye to her school - Myers Elementary. Because we live in an area that was recently redistricted, we were transferred to Kalapuya Elementary for the 19-20 school year. This sweet little school gave so much to Parker - friends, memories, and a love of learning. We are sure going to miss this amazing crew...and looking forward to the "new" of Kalapuya!

(Mommy) "Did you step in puke?"
(P) "It’s a part of language."
(M) "Do you mean a figure of speech?"

(Papa) "Have you ever drawn a paycheck?"
(Parker) "Nope, but I’ve drawn ON one."

(Papa) "Here Grammie, check this."
(Parker) "No, papa. It says no checks!" - Papa asking Grammie to review the tab at a restaurant and the sign Parker saw that says "No checks".

(Mommy) "Man he’s ripped."
(Parker) "Whoever his wife is, she’s lucky." - watching America's Got Talent and commenting on Terry Crews without a shirt
